Skills Award after school clubs

Hockey in the Community are proud to be able to award and administer a number of governing bodies’ skills awards.

Our after schools clubs in the following sports run for a full term and include working towards, and ultimately issuing, where appropriate, skills awards and badges:

  • HOCKEY
  • Kwik Cricket
  • Athletics
  • Tri-Golf
  • Netball
  • Rounders
  • Badminton
  • Gymnastics (See below for details)

Young Leader Award

For children aged 9 – 13, we are also available to administer The Young Leaders Award.

The Sports Leaders UK Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of nine and 13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities. The Young Leader Award has been designed for use in a variety of different delivery settings, including primary and secondary schools, uniformed organisations and sports and community groups.

The award responds to the individual needs of each organisation and its Young Leaders through a flexible, differentiated programme. The award focuses on specific skills such as giving instructions, the organisation of people and equipment, and the use of space. Rather than breaking leadership down into its constituent parts, the award teaches these topics through a practical, activity based, holistic approach. In this way, the Young Leaders 'learn by doing' and, by the end of the course, will not only have the confidence and ability to lead others but will also have knowledge and experience of an extensive range of games and activities.

British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards

Our team of specialist Gymnastics coaches are available to offer the British Gymnastics Proficiency awards in either a extra-curricular or PPA environment

Sport Specific after school clubs

Hockey in the Community can provide your school with after school sessions in a variety of sports.

The sessions focus on fun and inclusiveness, ensuring every child gets the maximum benefit from the sessions regardless of their ability.

All our after school clubs run on a 16:1 child/coach ratio to ensure quality coaching is the priority in all our sessions.

In addition to the skills award after school sessions, the following sports are available:

  • Hockey
    • Uni Hockey at Infant age
    • Quicksticks at Junior age
  • Tag Rugby
  • Football
  • Basketball

Hockey in the Community has its own specialist dance and gymnastics coaches who are available to deliver a range of after school sessions.

Multi Sport after school clubs

Our multi sport sessions focus on giving children the opportunity to experience a new and varied range of sports.

As well as being able to offer all the previously mentioned sports as a multi sport option, we also have several specialist sports that form our multi sport range.

Multi sport sessions aim to introduce children to sports they may not have experienced before. You can choose any 3 of the following to be your multi sport session:

  • Bowls
  • Fencing
  • Volleyball
  • Dodgeball
  • Kurling

All multi sports sessions run for 6 weeks and include 2 weeks coaching on each sport. Like all our sessions, all equipment is provided by us and the same coach is used to deliver all the classes.

If you would like to configure your own multi sports sessions, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
